Tasting this morning outside Banyuls-sur-Mer. Hills covered in trellised layers of vines growing from flaky orange rock. Cold, had to move inside. Tasted two dozen wines: red, white and pink, dessert and dry, blended and pure. Highlights were a dry grenache gris and a red grenache dessert wine. Had lunch at winemaker's home - tripe, local charcuterie, and a cousin's goat cheese. Another round of tastings in the afternoon. Staying in Ornaisons tonight on the way to the Minervois. Foie gras, tagine and bouillabaisse with a local wine for dinner.
